To me, the first entry in a new blog or journal is always the hardest. I always feel like it should live up to some First-Entry standard set by bloggers worldwide. It should be interesting, witty, and focused, right? The First Entry should set the tone for the entire life-span of a blog. Will it be a professional blog or a personal blog? Or maybe a little bit of both?

At this point, I have no idea where this blog is headed. But maybe that is because at this point in time, I also don’t know where _I_ am headed. I am a Telecommunications senior at Michigan State University and up until now I have put my focus on audio production. I said “up until now,” and what I mean by that is: in this late hour of my college career I am feeling doubtful. I love music and the idea of being involved in its creation excites me, but I feel that I lack the experience (after completing all two of my audio production classes) to really pursue a lucrative career. So while I continue to develop myself in the art of sound, I have also been inspired to try my hand at something else…and it’s all my boyfriends fault!

Web development. I am going to try web development. I have no prior experience, except for a shitty Angelfire band website ( “the faces of greenwheel”:http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/faces_of_greenwheel/ ) that I made in high school. My b/f Adam, “Threadbox.net”:http://threadbox.net/ , a web interaction engineer for Quicken Loans (an awesome company who hooked him up like a mofo), convinced me to give Ruby on Rails a shot. So I am. I’ve been reading “_Agile Web Development with Rails: A Pragmatic Guide_”:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/097669400X/103-8855373-7459819?v=glance&n=283155 , and have completed the follow-along application. :D heh

I created this blog and registered this domain name because I figured it would be a good idea… Either way I go, I’ll have to use it. If I stay in audio, I’ll need a portfolio for my projects. If I stay in web development, well, a web blog just makes sense doesn’t it? (And it wouldn’t hurt to have a portfolio in this case, either.)

So, here it is: My First JewloftheLotus WeBlog post. \o/
With this blog, I’ll keep you up to date on my journey towards the “Real World.” Wish me luck.
