Project 365 – Days 30 – 40

Here’s a big set for you – the last 10 days worth of photos! Some are ok, some are horrible. I’m trying to find the right balance between not being an annoying all day photographer and still getting a good shot or two of something… Also… I swear I’m going to try and not wait 10 days before posting again!

Day 30 – El Gato del Fuego… silly kitteh.

Day 31 (2/1) – Detroit Ruins – If there is traffic on I-94 heading to work in the morning, we’ll often get off early and take Michigan Ave into town. The state of the city out there is a pretty clear example what used to be a thriving metropolitan, but is now quite literally in a state of ruin. It is both sad and beautiful.

Day 32 (2/2) – Liquor and Henna

Day 33 (2/3) – Superbowl – Didn’t get any super awesome shots, so I took this one and applied some super awesome vintage presets. I say, good enough.

Day 34 (2/4) – YOLO – True story.

Day 35 (2/5) – Ashley’s 30th Anniversary – Had many an awesome Bell’s beer at this event, a lot of bourbon barrel-aged stouts! :)

Day 36 (2/6) – Renaissance Glow – Detroit seems to be coming back, slowly but surely.

Day 37 (2/7) – Carnival in the City – Setting up for the Winter Blast in Detroit.

Day 38 (2/8) – Winter in the D

Day 39 (2/9) – Heartstrings

Day 40 (2/10) – Self-Portrait

I have mixed thoughts on this newest edition of photos. A few of them came out alright, a few of them are pretty weak. That being said, I’m also not putting 100% into this project. It is just too time consuming and I have a lot that I want to do. So we’ll see what happens. I don’t plan on stopping. Maybe my quality will get better on it’s own. Or maybe I’ll find new ways to be creative.

Day 23 – Hot Apple Toddy. Enjoying a nice hot adult beverage on an icy cold day.

Day 24 – Self Portrait #2. Yay, skin smoothing! :P

Day 25 – Fresh-Rolled Cafeteria Sushi. Not too bad…

Today’s photo features one of Ginger’s once beloved toys – the decapitated monkey. Even though she doesn’t play with it much anymore, we keep it around as a reminder of her deadly and primal nature, and as a warning to all that this could happen to you… while you sleep.

Here we go again… slacking off a little bit. Here’s another set of 5… or is it? SPOILER ALERT: There are only 4 photos in this post… :(

Day 17 – The Wurst Bar in Ypsi had their one year anniversary party. This was the ridiculous bacon-wrapped PBR brat, topped with even more amazing things.

Day 18 – Thought I’d go for something easy and grab a shot of my favorite desk ornament, my BSG Cylon action figure. He’s just chilling.

Day 19

FAIL DAY. :( There are no more words.

Day 20 – While strolling around downtown Ann Arbor, we headed into Moosejaw where we spotted this fine floor display. Yes… that would be the Queen of England and Christoper Walken camping out.

Day 21 – Seriously, do not enter, unless you want to be eaten by giant ants… your call.

Here’s some food and drink for ya, or what we Michiganders like to call – the Joys of Winter.

Day 15 – Cocktails. They were very good.

Day 16 – BBQ at Work. I resisted eating all of it!

Today, I snapped a few photos on the way into work (in Detroit). We ran into traffic on I-94 and so took Michigan Avenue into town. It’s pretty seriously decrepit. Buildings collapsing, everything boarded up, graffiti all over, trash everywhere… not much left aside from the strip clubs.

And because she was being cute this morning, here’s a shot of Ginger’s first Google search.

Project 365 – Days 9 to 13

Alright… so I’ve clearly been slacking off for a few days. This daily photo thing is actually kind of time consuming, not to mention a creativity challenge. Day 10 is particularly sad, as is Day 12. Part of the creativity problem stems from my newly adopted minimalistic lifestyle. Other Project 365ers often seem to choose to focus on a small detail of their daily life, for example – closeups of random trinkets and belongings. Minimalism does not lend itself well to this format. So, I look forward to seeing how creative I can be over the next 352 days…

Day 9 – Puppy! This guy was in the office with a few friends. Of course, we had to say hello!

Day 10 – Weaksauce. I took 2 photos this day. Both were pretty horrible. With some after effects, this is the best I have.

Day 11 – Mr. Detroit. I’ll go ahead and say this is the best shot in this sprint, purely due to the subject matter.

Day 12 – Googly Eyes. Seriously.

Day 13 – Guitar. Eh, okay.

Today was the great day of the Hopslam – Bell’s very awesomely hoppy Double IPA. Two glasses were enjoyed at Ashley’s in Ann Arbor. It was a good night.
