Some are ok, some are horrible. I’m trying to find the right balance between not being an annoying all day photographer and still getting a good shot or two of something… Also… I swear I’m going to try and not wait 10 days before posting again!

Day 30 – El Gato del Fuego… silly kitteh.

El Gato del Fuego

Day 31 (2/1) – Detroit Ruins – If there is traffic on I-94 heading to work in the morning, we’ll often get off early and take Michigan Ave into town. The state of the city out there is a pretty clear example what used to be a thriving metropolitan, but is now quite literally in a state of ruin. It is both sad and beautiful.

Day 32 (2/2) – Liquor and Henna

Day 33 (2/3) – Superbowl – Didn’t get any super awesome shots, so I took this one and applied some super awesome vintage presets. I say, good enough.

Day 34 (2/4) – YOLO – True story.

Day 35 (2/5) – Ashley’s 30th Anniversary – Had many an awesome Bell’s beer at this event, a lot of bourbon barrel-aged stouts! :)

Day 36 (2/6) – Renaissance Glow – Detroit seems to be coming back, slowly but surely.

Day 37 (2/7) – Carnival in the City – Setting up for the Winter Blast in Detroit.

Project 365 – Days 17 – 21 http://www.jewlofthelotus.com/2013/01/21/project-365-days-17-21/ http://www.jewlofthelotus.com/2013/01/21/project-365-days-17-21/#comments Tue, 22 Jan 2013 04:59:13 +0000 http://www.jewlofthelotus.com/?p=8571 Here we go again… slacking off a little bit. Here’s another set of 5… or is it? SPOILER ALERT: There are only 4 photos in this post… :(

Day 17 – The Wurst Bar in Ypsi had their one year anniversary party. This was the ridiculous bacon-wrapped PBR brat, topped with even more amazing things.

Day 18 – Thought I’d go for something easy and grab a shot of my favorite desk ornament, my BSG Cylon action figure. He’s just chilling.

Day 19

FAIL DAY. :( There are no more words.

Day 20 – While strolling around downtown Ann Arbor, we headed into Moosejaw where we spotted this fine floor display. Yes… that would be the Queen of England and Christoper Walken camping out.

Gone Campin

Day 21 – Seriously, do not enter, unless you want to be eaten by giant ants… your call.

Do Not Enter .. Or giant ants will eat you.

We bought a house in Ypsi / Ann Arbor!! http://www.jewlofthelotus.com/2012/10/28/we-bought-a-house-in-ypsi-ann-arbor/ http://www.jewlofthelotus.com/2012/10/28/we-bought-a-house-in-ypsi-ann-arbor/#comments Sun, 28 Oct 2012 17:31:50 +0000 http://www.jewlofthelotus.com/?p=8360

Wow, the last few months have been pretty intense for Adam and I. We went to New York City, Adam went to Portland, our summer weekends were packed, and WE BOUGHT A NEW HOUSE!!!

That’s right, the day that we left for NYC – we also closed on our new house. We’ve left the dregs of Livonia and have moved to the lovely outskirts of Ann Arbor, in Ypsilanti! It’s a perfect location – SO close to all the awesome things of AA, just down the street from the quaint, hipster downtown of Ypsi, a minute from the main highway (I-94), and in an amazingly awesome neighborhood (coincidentally constructed by a Quicken Loans sister company). It’s in the trifecta of awesome – Ypsilanti location, Ann Arbor schools, and Pittsfield Township taxes. :)

It’s a 2002 colonial model, cathedral ceilings, big kitchen, walk-out basement(!), huge backyard, and so much more. It’s so much of an upgrade from our old house that we can barely believe it’s really ours. The neighborhood has a ton of big, open parks, plus a large wooded park area with a playground, a community pool, plenty of undeveloped lots that make the area seem not very cramped, a variety of wildlife, and friendly, diverse people.

It’s really the best place we could be right now. :)

Here are a few pics of the new place, sorry about the clutter – it’s a work in progress!

Oh, and you might notice, also, that we got a cat!! Her name is Ginger <3
